With red light therapy (RLT), you expose your skin to a lamp stacked with red light bulbs. A part of your cells called mitochondria, sometimes called the "power generators" of your cells, soak it up and make more energy. This helps cells repair themselves and become healthier and also spurs healing in skin and muscle tissue.
RLT uses very low levels of heat and does not hurt or burn the skin. It's not the same type of light used in tanning booths, and it doesn't expose your skin to damaging UV rays.
What does RLT treat?
-Osteoarthritis
-Tendinitis
-Dementia
-Back/neck pain
-Hair loss
What are the risks of RLT?
Red light therpay is generally considered safe. The light should be anywhere from 12-18 inches from the surface of the skin, exposure 5 minutes up to 30 minutes. Results are best when the light penetrates directly on the skin.
